Don’t ever get stuck choosing a restaurant again with this guide to some of sydney’s favourite breakfast, brunch and lunch spots.
Newport Arms Hotel
2 Kalinya Street, Newport
As we fast forward to the warmer months, there’s just no place like the Newport Arms Beer Garden & Bistro for an afternoon beverage by the water. Sporting a reinvigorated menu just in time for summer, it’s the ideal spot to relax with an cider or icy cocktail.
We recommend: The quinoa, lentil and buckwheat salad
The Garden Tap
272 Bobbin Head Road, North Turramurra
North Turramurra’s famous lunch spot The Cooks Garden has expanded and opened a new bar on the premises, The Garden Tap. Opt for this new venue if you’re in the mood for a casual drink and some lighter shared plates rather than a hearty lunch.
We recommend: Vegetarian mini burgers with grilled haloumi, red pepper, beetroot relish
The Grounds of Alexandria
Building 7A/2 Huntley St, Alexandria
The Grounds has developed a cult reputation amongst coffee lovers. It might take a little longer to get there, however the fresh seasonal food and picturesque garden setting is worth the trip. It is busy on weekends so visit during the week for a more relaxing experience.
We recommend: Coffee and any of the delicious pastries from the bakery
Barefoot Coffee Traders
Wentworth Street, Manly
The original ‘Barefoot Coffee’ shop in Whistler Street, Manly, was so good they went ahead and made another. The new one is habourside – right near the wharf. If you’re looking for that quaint coffee vibe, the Whistler Street shop is still up as popular as ever.
We recommend: Your coffee preference of choice and the waffles with melted chocolate sauce
The Sailors Club
594 New South Head Rd, Rose Bay
The Sailors Club is perfect to breeze into and enjoy a delicious meal and the extensive wine list while overlooking the bay. With the long stretches of glass, and white, turquoise and yellow decor, it feels like you’re enjoying a day in a yacht.
We recommend: The slow roasted lamb shoulder with artichoke puree and winter vegetables
