With springtime almost among us, head down to Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden for your yearly fix of all things garden and art. Hope William-Smith reveals why.
The annual Ku-ring-gai Wildflower, Art & Garden Festival is almost here. Taking place on Saturday 30 August, it’s set to be an event full of exciting activities for everyone to enjoy.
The community based event, aimed at building relationships and promoting art and garderning in Ku-ring-gai will have an exciting and diverse festival program, including: an Australian Wildlife presentation, Children’s book readings, talks on nature, photography and wildflowers, face paiting, bush crafts, a wildflower walk and even a bug hunt.
This year, the festival will discover its artistic side with a sculpture walk based around the environmentally friendly theme of sustainability. The sculptures presented for inclusion in the festival come from local artists encouraged to create their works from fully sustainable and recyclable materials.
The sculpture walk and exhibition will join a host of exciting events, perfect for a day out with the whole family. A variety of arts and craft stalls will be on display as well as a range of artists painting én plain air’or ‘outside in the open air’.
More than twenty local businesses and schools will have stalls throughout the day, including Bell Art Australia, Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Service and St Ives Park Public School.
Local music ensembles from the Ku-ring-gai area will keep festival goes entertained throughout the day, with gypsy band Lolo Lovina also making an appaearance. Jay Lagaáia, popular children’s entertained from Playschool and former Home and Away cast member, will present a special lunch time show.

Two free shuttle buses will run a non-stop service from St Ives Showground to the festival site.
