Jacaranda blossoms are taking full bloom in your favourite areas.
Destination NSW has named the North Shore as one of the top jacaranda areas in the state. The quiet leafy suburbs from the city to Berowra are fast becoming popular jacaranda hotspots for tourists hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous purple blossoms.
Despite being a winter tree, the peak viewing season is throughout October and November. Destination NSW has picked some of the most scenic spots to catch a glimpse of these spectacular trees in full bloom. Longueville made the hit list, where the blossoms form a majestic backgrop on parks and streets overlooking the harbour. Other Norther suburbs that have made the cut include Mosman, lavender Bay, Greenwich, Waverton, and Hunters Hill. Several suburbs from the East and Inner West, including Double Bay, Paddington, Glebe, and Erskineville, alos join the North Shore on the list.
In addition to popular local sites, Grafton on NSW’s North Coast remains the most iconic jacaranda location and is home to the annual Jacaranda Festival along the Clarence River. Celebrating the magnificient purple blossomed trees, the festival is one of the country’s oldest, dating back to 1934, and most popular flora festivals.
More recently jacaranda walking tours have become a favourite Spring activity. Starting from the Royal Botanic Gardens, they’re a wonderful way to take in the majestic views of the Opera House, Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, and the historica cobbletone streets within the Rocks.
