I am forever scoping out new spots that haven’t gained the wider attention of all Sydney-siders alike, those spots that only the locals know about and manage to keep on the down-low. Sorry locals, the secret is now out, and I have here the best kept secret hot spots on Sydney’s North Shore.
For the outdoorsman:
Glen Street Theatre is a local theatre company housing 400 seats in The Forest Community Centre. The theatre is a perfect place to spend a night out watching locally produced performances from companies such as The Sydney Theatre Company, Ensemble Theatre and Bell Shakespeare. Locals are able to enjoy a selection of theatre, music and dance.
Berowra Waters Marina. What a find, and locals sure have kept this one a top secret. Home to several yachts, a ferry and fish and chips restaurants, visitors are able to spend the day by the water as they fish, whip out the water skis or even hire a kayak and head out by yourself. Bonus, this place is super quiet with fewer crowds and tourists.
Chinamans Beach is a little inlet beach nestled away in Mosman, Chinamans Beach is a beach that goes almost unheard of. Just a short walk away from Sydney’s famous Balmoral Beach, there’s no wonder that locals skip the crowds and head to their own private beach instead. Fit for picnics under the shade and tanning on an almost empty beach, this is a little slice of Sydney that is coming out of hiding.
For the foodies:
Sous Le Soleil – A French restaurant located in Roseville, this cottage is one all cuisine fanatics must visit.
Chao Ba – An urban Vietnamese joint in the heart of Chatswood, known for its fresh food and welcoming environment, this is a lunch spot all foodies must check out.
The Sawmill – Woodfire pizzas and an inexpensive wine list, this Italian restaurant located in West Pymble is a perfect family place with specials to please the entire family.
