Food trucks have become prominent features in Sydney’s food industry. From walking past one on the street, to stalls at markets, music festivals and pop-up stores, these spaces carry easy-to-eat morsels of deliciousness. Food trucks combine simple methods of cooking with gourmet ingredients to create simple, yet delicious meals. They are also a great way to showcase food culture and diversity through a handful of select dishes from varying cuisines. Another common trend amongst food trucks and other fast food joints is the “loaded” anything – hotdogs, burgers and fries are quickly prepared but don’t skimp on flavour.

Food trucks have also begun to weigh in on the gelato craze that has gripped Sydney in recent years, epitomised by the eternal Gelato Messina vs. Cow and The Moon debate. Recently, Gelato Messina has taken their sweet treats to the streets. Food truck popularity has skyrocketed so poignantly that there are now a range of apps available, one being Sydney Food Trucks, which allows you to track the location of your favourite mobile street feed.

Some of Sydney’s most popular food trucks include the dairy-free, coconut milk-based ice cream truck Over The Moo, Knafeh, the home of the bearded bakers who serve up a side of energy with their Jerusalem street food and lastly the fried chicken goodness of Dirty Bird. You can keep up to date by tracking the various social media accounts of these food trucks and make sure to keep Sydney Observer up to date on your favourite feed too!
